Education in Bulgaria is carried out according to European educational programs.

Educating children in educational institutions is an important stage of socialization in a foreign country.

According to the changes in the "Law on Preschool and School Education", since 2016, education in kindergartens and schools is free for children of foreigners coming and permanently residing in Bulgaria.

Early childhood education in Bulgaria is designed for children from the age of 3 to the time they start school (7 years is the official age to start school). Before school, preschool training is compulsory for 1 year and must be carried out in preparatory groups in kindergartens or preparatory classes at school. There, children study according to special educational programs.

The system of public preschool education in Bulgaria is presented in the form of different forms of education: full-day, half-day, health-improving and specialized kindergartens.

There are public, municipal, and private kindergartens. The most numerous are municipal kindergartens. You can enroll a child in a municipal kindergarten once a year from April 1 to May 1 on the portal of the city Community. You choose a kindergarten and fill out an application on the website.

And if you brought a child in the middle of the year, then it is better to contact directly to the community at the place of residence and, possibly, you will find a place in a kindergarten.

Kindergartens in Bulgaria are free, only the child's meals are paid (about 60 leva per month). For admission, you must have a vaccination card, take tests, a certificate from a personal doctor, and the status of a residence permit (LNF of the child).

Bulgarian School education is secular and free. Along with national general education schools, there are many private and foreign schools, but education in them is carried out on a paid basis.

The Bulgarian school curriculum and methods of teaching children differ from the school curricula in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus.

Children go to school 5 days a week and their performance is assessed through control tests. Assessment of knowledge is carried out on a 6-point scale. The school year begins on September 15 and ends at the end of May or June, depending on the school curriculum.

The first 4 years are elementary school.
From the 5th to the 8th grade – basic (progymnasium).
Secondary education is from 8 to 12 grades.
There are secondary schools (SOU), where from the 8th grade they study for 3-4 years, and there are also specialized schools, where from the 8th grade they study for 4-5 years. Admission to specialized schools is possible After graduating from the seventh or eighth grade, it involves passing exams depending on the profile of the school.

To enroll a child in school, you must first choose the school itself, then submit an application to the Regional Department of Education at the place of residence. This procedure is carried out until the 7th grade. This is the first educational stage.

And you need to enroll your child in high school, the next stage of secondary school, on the website Ministry of Education in Sofia. Monthly commissions consider each individual case.
