On September 2, 2017, the Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria Nikolina Angelkova spoke about the current indicators of foreign tourist flow to the country. As of the beginning of September, the ministry summed up the results for the period from January to July 2017 Almost 5 million foreign tourists visited Bulgaria. Compared to the same period last year The growth was 7.2%. "Against the background of last year's record, this is a very serious achievement," the minister stressed, mentioning from which countries the tourist flow grew. According to her, there are 10% more tourists from Greece and Germany. In the region of 20%, there was an increase in the number of tourists from the UK, Poland and the Czech Republic. There are about 5% more Russians.

Tourism revenues for the period from January to June 2017 amounted to BGN 2.4 billion, which is 12.3% higher than last year's figures for the same period of time. According to the minister, this proves that Bulgaria is gradually turning into a tourist destination that is able to offer a quality product, and not just a low-budget one. Another proof of this, she believes, is the fact that this year the Consumer Protection Commission (Commission for consumer protection) notes a significant decrease in the number of complaints related to the tourism industry. In total, their share is about 5%.
