Hotelier from Nessebar: “I said to hire “everything that moves”

Отельер из Несебра: “Я сказал нанимать на работу “все что движется”

Today, Bulgarian resorts are intensively looking for personnel for almost all positions without exception. Cleaners, waiters, bartenders, cooks, translators, animators, etc. are urgently needed.

Students of Bulgarian universities do not seek employment at their native resorts because of the level of salaries. According to the official data of the NSI, the average salary in the sector "Hotel and restaurant business" is one of the lowest in the country – 611 BGN. The minimum salary in Bulgarian resorts today is 500-600 BGN. Administrative staff (reception) are offered 600-700 BGN, but knowledge of one or more foreign languages is required.

One of the major businessmen from Sunny Beach, Veselin Nalbantov, described the situation with personnel as follows: "He said to hire "everything that moves". Yes, we give 600 BGN. for cleaning, but for people of retirement age, this income can be a good addition to the pension." For employees in managerial positions, the businessman offers salaries from BGN 1000 to BGN 2000. But, despite this, the shortage of personnel, according to him, is about 10% here.

We wrotethat in the light of the current difficult situation with personnel, the Bulgarian tourism industry is counting on assistance from foreign workers – mainly from Ukraine and Moldova. At the same time, some hoteliers express a certain pessimism about this. One of the main reasons is the language barrier.

Knowing that our Bulgarian partners read us, we will allow ourselves to suggest to the Bulgarian travel industry a solution to personnel problems. Thousands of foreigners with status "Continued to be interrupted" – Residence permit. This status gives the right to reside in Bulgaria, but does not give the opportunity to work officially. Foreigners with residence permit status, for the most part, are able to work and already many speak Bulgarian. The solution of the issue to give them the right to work officially (at least during the tourist season) will solve the problem with personnel, if not forever, then for years.

If you agree with our proposal and you know managers in the hotel business in Bulgaria, offer them this option for solving the problem.
