A personal doctor is a family therapist who issues certificates, sick leaves and referrals to specialists. In some cases, such doctors go to home calls, but this is not part of his duties. Therefore, when looking for a personal doctor, it would be wise to find a doctor closer to home.
Initial assignment to a personal doctor is possible at any time after you have received
Permanent Residence / Residence Permit and Unified State Registration, attached to the Health Resort and paid monthly fees (zdravno osiguryavane), and also registered with the NRA.
But it is allowed to change doctors only twice a year: in June and December.
To be attached to a doctor, you need to come to him with a personal card and documents from the NAP. The doctor (personal doctor) will register a new patient, give him a special book for visiting the dentist ("zdravosiguritelna kniga") and, if necessary, refer him to specialists.
From now on, a patient with any ailments, except for dental problems, must first go to a personal doctor. An appointment with a personal doctor is paid – 2.9 leva, for pensioners – 1 leva, and for privileged categories (pregnant women and children) – free of charge. You will be examined, given a prescription or given the necessary referrals to specialists other than dentists. The same amount will have to be paid for the appointment of a specialist if you come to him with a referral. If you come directly to the ophthalmologist or endocrinologist, without first receiving a referral from a therapist, will have to pay the full cost of the appointment, in this case, the NZOC does not cover the treatment.
To get an appointment with a dentist, you do not need a referral from a therapist. But, unlike other specialists, to visit the dental office, you need to have a "health book", which contains your data. After treatment, the dentist writes down his data in it, what services were provided and how much it all cost. It is necessary to independently choose a dentist who works on the basis of "zdravna kasa", come to him for an appointment in order to agree on the date and time of consultation and treatment. If the doctor does not work with "zdravna kasa", then you will have to pay for dental services in full. But, "zdravna kasa" also pays for the services of a dentist partially. Each specialist has his own price list for dental services.
We wish you never to get sick and be healthy all your life.
